An assignment is a duty or a task that you assigned to perform in a specific way and at a specified time in your life. For example, your college professor may release a term paper to you with a deadline to complete it. You are given specific instructions on how to format your paper followed by a list of possible consequences if you fail to complete the assignment by the specified time. In addition, each assignment sets the foundation for the next assignment. Failure to complete it with excellence and turn it in by the deadline could result in a poor grade or even a failure in the class. That student could end up repeating that class again. However, if the student successfully completes the assignment then promotion is at the finish line; and the next assignment will built on the foundation of this success.
Our assignments in the Kingdom work in the same way. Every step that the Lord gives us prepares us for the next assignment. The assignments never stop coming and as we grow, they change in complexity and sometimes even in form or type. One thing, however, is assured: Every single assignment serves as a roadmap to destiny and purpose. Missing just one of them or doing it outside the timing of the Lord affects the path. Look at it this way, you wouldn’t show up for a job that starts at 8AM at 8pm would you? No! That would be ridiculous. It’s time to consider our heavenly assignments in the same way.
Just like in the classroom setting mentioned above, we are destined to repeat and redo what we do not complete. If we really want to progress in the things of the Lord, we must always move in a forward motion with Him. Fulfilling your destiny and purpose is all about completing “each assignment” and “turning it in” regardless of its size or type – and by doing it within the Lord’s timeframe, not our own.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 Complete Jewish Bible, “He has made everything suited to its time; also, he has given human beings an awareness of eternity; but in such a way that they can’t fully comprehend, from beginning to end, the things God does.”
Everything in your life is suited to a specific time frame. There is a time and a season for EVERY THING in your life. Ecclesiastes 3 shouts this from its page! Don’t be like I have been in my life! I missed some critical time lines in the Lord because of how I FELT and what I WANTED or how I perceived my CIRCUMSTANCES! Don’t sabotage your own life!
I am prophesying when I make this statement to you: “Don’t miss his timing!”
Every poem, acronym, acrostic, devotional, play, novel, article, book of instruction, movie script, children’s book or other literary work that you pen is an assignment released in the earth either by the command of Heaven or that of hell. There is no in-between. Those reading what you write will either be led into the presence of the Lord or led into the presence of the world. That is truth.
What we write is a form of speech which can be unspoken, yet lived out loud. The impact of words shape our human and spiritual development. They mold our minds, morals and ethical beliefs. They shape our world and existence. They determine our destiny!
What ARE YOU releasing in the earth? What have you done with your assignment?
Our Father set some excellent examples for us concerning the power of our words in the earth. Just look at these two scriptures.
Psalm 33:6 AMP, “By the Word of the Lord were the heavens made, and all their host by the breath of His mouth.”
Hebrews 11:3 AMP, “By faith we understand that the worlds [during the successive ages] were framed (fashioned, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose) by the word of God, so that what we see was not made out of things which are visible.”
Do you believe the Word? Do you believe the Torah, the Prophets, the Gospels and the Letters inspired by men in your Holy Bible? This is very, very important. A “yes” answer will establish this simple truth: “I am a child of the Most High God and everything written in the scriptures speak of my authority and power in Jesus Christ; and with this authority and power I have influence in the earth.”
Every believer has a purpose in Jesus Christ. That purpose is to administer the ministry of reconciliation according to 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 as ambassadors for Jesus Christ. We do this by proclaiming the news of Jesus’ life, death, burial and resurrection. No believer is exempt from this call in their walk with the Lord. When a person believes and accepts Jesus Christ, we must tell them that you now have a purpose. Your role in the earth is to go out and deliver this message.
You see, every time you release a Holy Spirit inspired piece of writing and it falls into the hands of its intended assignment – reconciliation takes place in some form in that person’s life. Reconciliation has many facets in the heart of the Father. A written word of encouragement could snatch a soul from depression, at the EXACT MOMENT they were contemplating suicide. A book on the healing of marriage could be the very thing that stops a spouse from filing for divorce. An article on forgiveness could cause someone to let go of the past.
When the Lord speaks through writing freedom always comes! You see HOLY SPIRIT brings FREEDOM if you come wanting it, and JUDGMENT if you do not. Some might say this: What if the Lord writes a Word a judgment, correction or a warning through me? Well, if He writes a word of judgment through you for His people, then rest assured that the soul who reads it will be convicted of their sin, directed toward the Lord’s will for them and made aware of the consequences of their actions if they do not change. Always remember that the Lord does not speak or release writings solely “as scare tactics” but as catalysts for change. He would not warn you of a thing if He didn’t want to prepare you for what was to come. Remember when the prophet came to David and told him that story about the unjust ruler? David had to look in the mirror and face HIMSEL. Our Father is looking for a RESPONSE from His people that will turn a man’s heart to godly obedience.
What we release on paper whether in print or electronic carries just as much weight as words that are spoken – if not more so. Your exact written words have the potential to travel in bound or electronic form through generations – long after you’ve left this earth! The question that will remain then is this: “Have you sown HEAVEN or HELL into the earth?” Writings give birth to unspoken legacies or curses – depending on who is leading you. If your heart is not write, then you will follow the wickedness of it. Surely, out of the heart the issues of life flow…
Heaven has need of you. Will you follow the Lord, yourself (your emotions) or this world?
