Who is writing your book – you or the Lord? (2)

Posted on 12/10/2011 by Theresa Harvard Johnson

When I look at the great men and women of the bible, I am in awe of God. They were all powerful and excellent teachers of the word regardless of how much was written about them. Take Prophet Deborah for example. Her story is one that would barely fill up a typed page if we took it word-by-word from the bible. On the other hand, the letters that the Apostle Paul wrote take up most of the New Testament.

Even looking at this — I am in awe of how no man or woman in the entire bible out-shined our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Have you ever thought about that? In all of these “sacred texts” — no superstars or idols arise before men. Every story is well balanced and FOCUSED COMPLETELY ON THE FATHER. How awesome is that. This is one of the reasons why I know that God authored this book through the hearts of men who were FOR HIM and not for SELF.

I look for the same things when I read your writings. I say to myself, “LORD, how much of what is written is a reflection of you?” We need to do this with EVERYTHING in our lives. If you’re planning a retreat you must ask: “Lord, how much of this retreat is of you?” If he tells you that only 10 percent of it is him would you shut it down and start over?

I would.

You see, anything that is worth having comes from the Father. Not from your flesh. Anything the Father does will bring LIBERTY to men and it will WIPE OUT sin.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 says,

Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action), So that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.

While prophetic writers are not trying to REWRITE THE WORD. Let’s be clear here. They are hearing the voice of the Lord speak into their ears — revealing those things that have already been written that are relevant for today. , we are writing from the revelation of the scripture. So when he speaks to the prophetic writer, He is speaking out of the revelation from His Word — regardless of the genre. If scribes can EVER get this — half the battle to restore the mind of Christ into them will be won.

What we write must be PROFITABLE for instruction, reproof and conviction of sin. We are to combat error and discipline in obedience and train for righteous living. We write so that men can become COMPLETE and PROFICIENT …. and fitted thoroughly for every good work.

Books given to you from God:

  • Begin as ideas rolling around in your spirit.

  • Are triggered by your meditation on His Word and on Him

  • Are often birth through sudden ideas popping into your spirit

  • Are developed as you mature and walk in Him

  • Are released as revelation during different stages in your life depending on the type of book and its purpose

  • Will teach you as you write them

  • Will transform you as you write them

  • Will deliver you as you write them

  • Will convict you of sin as you write them

  • Activate you apostolic-prophetic mantle to teach

  • Will HUMBLE YOU

  • Will glorify the Father from beginning to end

  • Will provide revelation not just information

  • Will line up perfectly with His Word

  • Continue never be completed until you have a COMPLETE release in your spirit that it is done.

  • Begin at the beginning or middle of a process in your life you may not have overcome

  • Will begin unveiling your “true self” between its pages

  • Will keep you up at night or have you writing at strange times

I could go on and on with this list. But what I want you to see here is that it is necessary for the SPIRIT OF THE LORD to guide your writing — not you. From my personal experiences, I’ve had major areas of my ministry birth through the HOLY GHOST writing process — not some process you got from a worldly-school text book.

Don’t let your good book be based on your “intelligence.” Saints have ENOUGH information. The prophetic writer must release REVELATION! If you’re not doing that, then you’re just a Christian writer who is writing a book. That book might be good for knowledge, but not beneficial for growth.

People of God, I beg you to learn to pray and seek the Father in your most HOLY LANGUAGE. Put prayer into practice in your lives so that you know WHO you are and that the Lord is speaking. If God is really, really speaking … then I tell you, when the people assigned to your book reads it…. TRANSFORMATION will take place in their lives, and they will never be the same.

Don’t strive to only be a great writer! Strive to do greater exploits in the Name of the King!
