Lord, thank you for your grace and mercy as you move through me today. Your leaders are hurting and they need answers. Use me Lord to speak to them… in Jesus Name…
Dead Weight
As I finished writing the prophetic insight on cutting off the sucker plants and the leeches, I heard the words: Dead Weight.
The phrase means, “The unrelieved weight of a dead, motionless mass; an oppression that is a great burden (in a negative way); a heavy motionless weight; tonnage” One definition said that dead weight is: “The difference is choosing to load or unload.”

Remember Jonah?
Well, I do. Jonah was a prophet called of the Lord to deliver a correcting word to the people of Nineveh. I hope I spelled that correctly. He didn’t want to go. So he ran from God and decided to jump on a boat and go do WHAT HE WANTED TO DO. (Read the book if you haven’t) Well, in the midst of his running … he hooked with some other men who working. These people were doing what was required of them, BUT JONAH WASN’T.
I need you to follow me here.
Suddenly, the boat that the men were own began to toss and turn into the sea. A sudden storm came upon them. Truly, death and destruction was at the door. The men on the boat were scared. So THEY BEGAN DUMPING THEIR CARGO OUT… thinking that it was the cause. HOW MANY JONAH”S DO YOU KNOW? ARE YOU ONE OF THEM?
Now these men are fighting for their lives. Yet, Jonah is sleeping like a baby. He’s a Christian…. but he is SLEEPING. How many Christians do you know who are refusing to walk in their call! Refusing to connect to a local church! Refusing to take correction! Choosing to amen everything and DO NOTHING … unless it benefits them! They are so bitter … that they CAN’T EVEN SHARE what the Lord has put on the inside of them OR see their own hot mess. They’d rather sit back, sleep deeply and watch what is going on around them in IGNORANT BLISS.
These men realized that when the boat was still being tossed that JONAH WAS SLEEPING. They were thinking, HOW CAN ANYONE SLEEP THROUGH THIS STORM? WE ARE ABOUT TO DIE! So, they casted lots to see who was to blame and the lot fell on Jonah. They woke him up and said, “PRAY TO YOUR GOD TO FIND OUT WHAT IS HAPPENING TO US!”
You see, Jonah didn’t wake up until he was forced to face His own spiritual/natural death. But even then, he didn’t get the full picture. He had THE NERVE to claim to be a son of God, but had refused to do the WORK his office required of him. How many believers do you know say they are a Christian, but there BUTTS are planted to the pew and the sacred couch of life. Let’s talk about this thing…
It’s nothing to play with. There is an assignment for every believer!
Well, Jonah realized HE HAD TO GO! If he stayed, it would COST the people around him THEIR LIVES. So he asked him to toss him into the sea. (I’m going to stop here…)
What I want you to see is that some of those around you WILL RATHER TAKE YOU DOWN WITH THEM — than to be tossed out of the boat. They FALSELY BELIEVE the Lord is working with them, when in fact they have already been rejected OR they are at their final opportunity. They FALSELY BELIEVE THE RUCKUS AROUND THEM IS THE MINISTERS FAULT when it is actually their disobedience.
You see, sometimes simply completing your OWN ASSIGNMENT can bring unity and cohesion into the midst of a body of believers. We are MEMBERS of one body — not a DISMEMBERED BODY. When in the midst of a group of people who depend on you (even in your on family or your local church)…. the wrong decision can shift the lives EVERYONE AROUND AROUND YOU…
But ignorance and deep sleep will have you think that the problem is YOUR PASTOR, THE LEADER OF THE GROUP OR EVERYONE AROUND YOU.
MAYBE YOU are the dead weight.
Take an inventory of your own life. Are you doing what God called you to do? It doesn’t take the Lord 15 years to tell you what your ministry is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My God!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are SLEEPING if you’ve been saved this long and don’t know. Some people can tell you after three months if they hear God?
Yes, I want you to get angry with me! This post is about your PURPOSE — not your feelings.
If you need a New Testament reference, study out Timothy’s ministry when the Apostle Paul told him not to wreck His own ship. Also, review the book of Acts which discusses how everyone’s gifts benefited the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus. Read the book of Philemon which discusses how a slave came back to His master transformed by Jesus.
Don’t let the WEIGHT of your DISOBEDIENCE STEAL, KILL AND DESTROY YOUR DESTINY! Leaders, this is even further confirmation concerning cutting off the leeches in your life. If you don’t, they could weigh down and destroy your ministry. We are in a time when it is NOT ABOUT HOW MUCH WE LOVE PEOPLE … but HOW MUCH WE LOVE JESUS…
