GOD STILL SPEAKS by John Eckhardt

I consider myself an avid reader. I spent many years in church and not fully understanding the call upon my life. I would walking around in bubble seeking… searching for someone or something to tell me why I was here. I knew that I was different, and that God spoke to me all the time about many different things. However, I dared not to say such a thing because people would look at me a bit strange. Until recently, I had no understanding of the prophetic. I asked God to teach me and to direct me toward what he had for me. This journey brought me here to “GOD Still SPEAKS” by John Eckhardt.
This teaching/instructional guide reveals that God is still speaking to the body of Christ even though many say God does not speak like he did during the times of Moses and the Prophets. At one point I considered the same thing because of my upbringing. I dove into this book ready to receive all that the Lord was about to reveal. I was blessed beyond measure.
There were many scriptures to back up what was being concerning the Holy Spirit and the prophetic culture. Eckhardt expresses that the idea that God still speaks is not just a theory, but rather it is a lifestyle, and that he cannot imagine his life without prophecy. WOW!!
Eckhardt expounds upon the relationship between Holy Spirit and prophecy. When reading this it became surreal that all throughout the Bible that there are many prophecies that have come to pass; and many that are still destined to come to pass. For example he wrote: “The Holy Spirit is also known as the Comforter, and prophecy is one of the ways He comforts the believer. In other words, the baptism of the Holy Spirit is the doorway into the prophetic realm. The well-known prophecy of Joel emphasized the release of prophecy among the sons, daugthers, servants, and handmaidens.” (PROPHECY)
Here’s another clear example. Eckhardt stated, “The Holy Spirit came upon the disciples in the Upper Room on the Day of Pentecost was inspired utterance, which is prophecy.”
I was truly blessed by this book. Chapter 2 brought a level of understanding to the prophetic what blessed me. It covers the role of prophets today. This was especially significant since I had not been around any prophetic people who shared what they had learned. But God!
In addition, Eckhardt identifies three prophetic levels:
1. Spirit of prophecy (The most basic level of prophecy is known as the spirit of prophecy)
2. The gift of prophecy (The second level of the prophetic realm is the gift of prophecy)
3. The office of the prophet (The highest level in the prophetic realm is the office of the prophet)
I’ve finally come to the conclusion that I am who I am, and I didn’t wake up one day and decide this is who I am going to be today. I know this was decided before the beginning of the foundation. I must say that if your desire is to learn more about the prophetic, and if you are wondering if God still speaks today — the answer would be yes! Yes! Yes! God is the same God back then and he’s the same God now. Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”
