Reading collections of poetry can be mundane and a bit lethargic. Lovers of the genre will tell you quickly that it can often be difficult connecting with a poem or following a collection logically – especially those written by believers. Why? Because many creative scribes have not learned to follow Holy Spirit’s leading into weaving poetry into testimonies of deliverance, declarations of His power or instructions that promote transformation. This poetic collection is mature, firm for the harvest.

You see, every seasoned prophetic poet is a storyteller. And every seasoned storyteller has a burden to convey the heart of God.

In Come Forth: A Journey from the Shadows into View, author Andrea M. Renfroe speaks powerfully into the lives of those who are emerging from the cocoon of their salvation into a maturing, courageous, glorious  faith-place; those hiding behind the starting line unsure of their direction; and those lingering near sidelines of their faith hesitant to step out. By weaving in elements from her own testimony, practical ministry experience and spiritual wisdom, readers are challenged to confront numerous areas of sin – especially as it relates to compromise and rebellion, and serve God in spirit and truth.

It is clear that Come Forth: A Journey from the Shadows into View was written at the hands of a scribal prophet – sent specifically to align the people of God with their eternal purpose. So often destiny and purpose are tied to natural events and personal opportunities for self-exhortation and promotion. Renfroe, however, conveys that the destiny of a believer is to die to self and come forth in the purposes of Christ.

She writes: “They say a journey begins with one step. I say a journey begins with a decision.” That decision, as conveyed in the final poem of her book, is to COME FORTH!
