When we talk about prophetic scribes and scribal ministry, the community of believers often think almost exclusively of those projects falling into traditional genres like self-help, non-fiction, poetry, or even the writing out or recording of prophetic words. The ministry of the scribe, as we study it in our Scribe School, is vast.
As the scribal community begins to grow in relationship with one another and we arise as the Ezekiel 9 watchmen and instructed gatekeepers of Matthew 13:52, it will become necessary for us to begin praying and speaking life into all three levels of scribal ministry – administrative, instructive and creative, as well as its varying God-inspired genres. We must begin to stand in our callings and build a hedge around those pioneering scribes who stand in “obscure, overlooked creative ministries.”
There will come a time when God will raise these obscure scribal ministries up in the earth, to not only guide us… but help us understand, navigate and stand at the gates of this changing world of technology. We need to be on the frontlines, helping prepare the way…
As God sends them to Voices of Christ, I find myself adjusting my prayer life by the leading of Holy Spirit and teaching them how to build that hedge of protection. Some people will read this article and think I have gone too far. I promise you, I haven’t. Even with the innovation that the ministry of Voices of Christ brings, I still believe we have only scratched the surface of this gifting.
Here are five obscure – undiscovered, unappreciated or unrecognized – scribal ministries in the midst of our congregations that we need to add to our prayer lists in this hour:
1. Computer Programming of all kinds. Weird isn’t it? There are believers who are supernaturally and passionately gifted in writing code for computer processes in the same way that we are inspired to write novels, poetry and spoken word. Coding isn’t just a technical process learned in an institution, it can also be an extremely creative scribal process that crosses into all three levels of The Scribal Anointing®. God wires the minds of people to perform certain tasks in earth related to this specific gifting. I know, I have worked with some “prophetic” programmers. Seriously. Check out this article in the Huffington Post, “Scientists Begin Looking at Programmers’ Brains.”
2. Video Game Development. Storytellers have been combining their computer programming skills and visual/digital art interests to completely change how people think, play, interact and create for decades. There are many believers working in these fields worldwide. There are very few, however, who have found any measure of global success in their efforts. The warfare in this arena, as Father revealed to me, is intense. The saturation of the demonic is at a level that even exceeds film and theatre. Much light is needed in this area, and it will take consistent, corporate prayer to help these scribes breakthrough. (This is also an area where scribes are attacked because some believers denote the entire video game industry as “the devil” and that just isn’t true anymore than mobile phones are evil.) Check out this basically unheard-of group of scribes, “Higher Calling: The New Gospel of Christian Games.”
3. Christian Board Game Developers. There are people who have incredible minds given to them by God to develop board games from a storytelling or fact-finding perspective. Very few companies exist for this specific area of scribal ministry where bible and life stories are told through “board games and playing cards” targeting people of all ages. People would be surprised to know what bestselling games are on the market today that was published first by believers. Even so, we don’t have enough of these companies in the United States. We need to pray them through. Check out this website and be amazed: “Cactus Game Design Inc.”
4. Comic Books and Comic Strips. This industry is “better known” than some of the others mentioned, but still has not received the level of recognition needed to take it off the back side of the mountain so-to-speak. Comic books and comic strips are powerful in conveying the Gospel with words and pictures. This group, in my opinion, exposes one of the most amazing areas of the scribal arts. But guess what, there may be storytellers just like this around you who are not aware that such a group of artists exist at this level. The truth is, they are everywhere. Check out this link and freely search out others: The Christian Comic Arts Society.
5. Christian Puzzle Writers. While I could not find a crossword puzzle or word search association, I found many websites of individual scribes who have “crossword puzzle or word search” ministries. Yep, I said that. This one guy, whose website I am about to share, did the entire book of Psalms in word search puzzles along with several key passages in other Old & New Testament books. Talk about meticulous work and dedication. Even more astounding is that he has them listed free for printing on the Internet. You’ve got to check him out: Bible Word Search Ministry.
At some point in the 15-year ministry of Voices of Christ, we have had the honor and privilege of meeting at least one or two scribes– with the exception of the video game developer – who walk in these areas of The Scribal Anointing. They face immense warfare as “religion” has attempted to snuff out the gifting. People of God, the Lord is doing an unusual work in the earth RIGHT NOW in scribal ministry that is so beyond what we believe we know or understand – whether believers recognize themselves as prophetic or not.
The purpose of writing this article is to challenge our thinking, challenge scribes (especially those who have the anointing of other artistic gifts) to really move beyond their own projects, and begin developing prayer strategies that will give birth to the vision that others carry in them that are STILL TRYING to come forth. WE CAN PRAY THIS IN! Yes, there is activity in all of these areas but it is nothing like the activity we see in the book publishing industry.
Scribal ministry is so much more than many could ever imagine. We are living in a time when God is using the HOLY IMAGINATION of his people at unprecedented levels! Truly, we have the mind of Christ.{jcomments on}
