This is another perspective that I teach concerning the lying pen… as we go deeper in our discussion.
There were no devils and demons at play in Matthew 23 when the Pharisees and Scribes were rebuked. Rather, you had people of influence who decided to let greed, power and money guide their lives in ministry. Those Christ rebuked were selfish, building their own Kingdoms and using God’s word for their own personal, political and social interests.
The INTENT OF THEIR HEARTS WERE UNCLEAN… and their illegal ungodly actions INTENTIONAL. They didn’t need an evil spirit to help them… because they themselves were the evil. They were the wicked thing who desired dominance over the people of God.
Jeremiah 17:9 warns us that the heart can be desperate and wicked.
Mark 7:21 clearly states that out of the “evil” heart comes evil plans THAT MEN devise.
Matthew 12:35 distinguishes between the treasure of THE GOOD HEART and THE TREASURE OF THE BAD HEART one.
In fact, there are more scriptures about THE CHOICE TO BE EVIL in the Bible than there are about EVIL SPIRITS & DEMONIC INFILTRATION (which we will address next).
THIS is one part of the Jeremiah 8:8 prophecy about the lying pen that is often overlooked and must be discussed. It’s the PEN THAT KNOWS WHAT IS RIGHT… but CHOOSES TO LEAD WRONG… for selfish intent and selfish gain. The wielder of this pen must be called out, confronted, exposed, etc. before God and men with countering truth….
This is the pen that moves through the congregation and what WE WAR AGAINST as prophetic scribes. Our SCRIBAL WARFARE, as we call it within the scribe school, is engaged EVERY SINGLE TIME WE RELEASE OUR “PROPHETIC SCRIBAL WEAPON” in the earth against false doctrines, false beliefs, false witness of the Gospel, etc.
Listen, the pen of the lying scribe in this instance:
1. Has an agenda focused exclusively on self
2. Intentionally sets out to deceive God’s people
3. Uses their gifts to SERVE SELF, not others
4. Raises its opinion above God’s truth…. consistently
Some “SUBTLE” signs that people are in this place might include a desire to “KEEP IT REAL” even if its vulgar, nasty and cruel. Elevating and forcing divisive traditions of men over God’s words. Deliberately misinterpreting God’s intent as a method of control. Twisting scripture to create a self-serving culture. Twisting scripture to justify ungodly behaviors….
It is necessary to discern the WORK OF THE SOUL (from this perspective) within the lying pen. In doing so, we pave the way for repentance and SOUL REPAIR with Holy Spirit. We move selfish intent out of the way… and present people with CHRIST…. (Remember, everything the soul produces isn’t bad. David reminds us that our SOUL loves Jesus. In this instance, we need to see when the SOUL DOES NOT love Him.)
