Four things all prophetic creative people may have to do that other people may not understand:
- You cannot always read or listen to other people’s material or listen to other people’s teachings when God is developing something unique in you. (Research isn’t the answer for everything! Sometimes, being quiet and studying organically is what the Lord wants FIRST.)
- When we obtain a higher place of understanding than we had before, we often have to let go of those environments that reinforce the old understanding. (This doesn’t mean “dust people.” Rather, it simply means it is time to surround one’s self with people who are reinforcing the new things you are learning. For years, I was a member of a local church but had a separate connection outside of the church in another area that was helping me grow in my understanding of the prophetic arts. What I was hearing was not something my church at the time operated in… and for my sanity, I not only needed the word at my church but also that prophetic art connection. Thankfully, my pastor understood.)
- Some prophetic creative people also enjoy activities not associated with the local church or any church. This is not about leaving the church or running renegade. Rather, some prophetic, creative people are activated by what is happening in the world. They can interpret, creatively, the heart of God for those environments… and need those atmospheres to shape it. Prophetic poets often operate like this… as well as some playwrights, actors, etc. In addition, some prophetic poets and playwrights, for example, need interaction with professional artists – whether Christian or non-Christian. Understanding their art form relies on the knowledge they gain, the prophetic response to what they see and hear, and it can expand their knowledge base… and enhance the prophetic. So, it’s not strange for those growing in the creative arts to be pulled in this way. There is a need, however, to be accountable in those activities… ensuring that the root system is stable.
- MOST prophetic creative people need to hang out with other PROPHETIC creative people. Just like prophets and apostles enjoy prophetically charged environments for healing, preaching, prayer, prophecy, etc., prophetic creatives desire the same. There is a supernatural exchange of learning and activation that takes place simply by proximity and sharing. Often creative, explosive ideas and strategies are birth in these groups. Great affirmation, confirmation and encouragement comes forth. There is a kinship that takes place that is different from general prophetic environments. Musicians experience this… and from this perspective people can better understand what this means.
I pray this is explained in a way that encourages you… and eases your heart as to why you may feel these kinds of pulls. Check out the course: “Releasing The Creative Prophetic Writer” to understand more about “who we are” as creatives in the Kingdom.
