For many of us, this term has become ambiguous especially among the apostolic prophetic community where quite a bit of circus-like activity is let loose. A simple way to define what the anointing is… AND set a standard for judging what it looks like is this: The anointing is the “tangible and recognizable presence of God” operating in and through us to manifest His will in us… in the earth.
1. The anointing is the Lord’s presence.
2. The anointing is the Lord’s presence IN us to work His works.
3. The anointing is the Lord’s presence THROUGH us to reveal his power and glory.
4. The anointing is the Lord’s presence in us that destroys yokes and lifts burdens.
5. The anointing is the Lord’s presence in us that reveals His love, comfort and good pleasure with us.
6. The presence of the Lord is THE LORD!
HOLY SPIRIT is the carrier of and the releaser of the anointing in us. Because we are filled with Holy Spirit, THE ANOINTING IS ALWAYS IN US… IT IS AN ABIDING PRESENCE OF THE LORD!
It is more noticeable in us at times than it is at other times… BUT THE ANOINTING DOES NOT LEAVE US! WHY…because the anointing is a part of the “God with us”… and “I will never leave you or forsake you” reality of our Sonship.
1 John 2:27 NKJV, “As for you, THE ANOINTING WHICH YOU RECEIVED FROM HIM ABIDES IN YOU, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.”
Most people, when they invite Holy Spirit to come…. they are in corporate settings. What people are really trying to say is this: Holy Spirit, would you help us become aware of the Lord’s presence in this moment? Would you cause us to be sensitive to his ever-abiding reality among His sons.
When we recognize the anointing and understand that THE ANOINTING IS THE PRESENCE AND POWER OF GOD… we will be able to discern the circus around us when the doors open… to the tent… and all the clowns come out.
