If ever there was something worth understanding in scripture, it should be the concept of immersion… that place of being so drenched in Christ that all things outside of Him fade into the background.
I remember telling a young woman who was “unhealthily” obsessed with her boyfriend (or whatever has become your idol whether politics or people) that the Lord was looking for an exchange from her. That same obsession she was holding for that boyfriend needed to move into a healthy obsession for the Lord. She said she didn’t know how to let go of it.
I was led to paint a picture of how the obsessive affection we sometimes give people is an excellent example idolatry. It is also a contrast of the kind of commitment and loyalty the Lord wants from us…but without the “relationship rot.”
Relationships often reveal how desperately the human soul needs to connect with its deliverer.
No human (or any thing) should “unhealthily” cloud and crowd out our view of Christ. One of the truest signs of spiritual maturity and stability is REMAINING IN HIM despite the chaos around us.
Many people can understand boyfriend-girlfriend drama. Some even deem themselves experts in the subject. Oh how amazing it would be to have this kind of UNDERSTANDING toward relating to Jesus. Our relationship with HIM as sons is paramount to any other relationship in our lives – even though he is not our boo-thang… but the ultimate bridegroom.
Song of Solomon 8:6, “Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm, for love is strong as death, jealousy is fierce as the grave. Its flashes are flashes of fire, the very flame of the Lord.”
This reminds me of three things:
1. Our affection must be for Him first.
2. We must balance our priorities in light of His intention for the Body.
3. We must accurate discern our part in revealing His image and likeness in the earth.
If we are going to tag relationships as complicated on social media – the church can start here… with a mirror.
No BOYFRIEND OR GIRLFRIEND situation can stand against the truth he brings. But a committed marriage that understands the supernatural bride-price can.
You see, Jesus wasn’t resurrected for American politics. Sadly, so many people believe He was. And day after day many fight for a VAPOR that is temporal at best. In 20 years, many of those who are fighting will be gone as will the issues of this day… and the drama on their lips. There is nothing ETERNAL in the obsession many have with this time we are in. All things of the world pass away! ALL THINGS!
What is eternal for sons, however, is what we build on the foundation of Christ right now… what points to Him, what strengths and exhorts the Body of believers, what causes the congregation to unify and readjust its eyes to THE ETERNAL reward.
Despite the wars and battles they faced, somehow the apostles managed to keep preaching Jesus – not Pilot, Herod or Caesar. They understood that building the KINGDOM was based on supernatural agreement around Christ’s eternal intention – not around the squabbles of humanity lost in the world’s system.
Their love was so great for the KINGDOM AT HAND…. the presence of God, the purposes of God… that their immersion in the love of God mirrored the cross walk so succinctly that it shifted their eyes from Caesar to the KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
My heart breaks this morning because the bride loves the world more than it loves the BRIDEGROOM. I cry alongside those who are able to see this truth… not a side.
The world fights with flesh and blood. The KINGDOM STANDS on the fight Jesus won… that has no sides. His intention was that HIS sacrifice was enough… not all the stipulation and reasoning the lost Pharisees and scribes laid upon it.
We were elevated to greater in Christ. And if we enter in at that sacrificial level that likeness and image calls us into, many eyes would open. Immersion is who we are! If only we would allow Holy Spirit to reveal it beyond the boyfriend, girlfriend drama of this age. We must realize that all of our language, hope and heart is in revealing Christ in PURITY… not in insanity.
2 Cor 11:2, “For I feel a divine jealousy for you, since I betrothed you to one husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ.”
Matthew 25:1, “Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.” #CHAMBEROFTHESCRIBE
