I feel hard-pressed to encourage prophetic scribes 65 and over today. In my online prophetic scribe group Scribal Prophets, I have seen posts and comments from scribes who say things like:
- I feel as if I'm too old to start.
- It might be too late for me at this point in my life.
While I understand where they are coming from, those statements grieve me deeply. I find myself screaming inside: "NO! NO! NO! Emphatically NO! It is never too late!"
As I mature, I am well aware of how the world changes around us. I am increasingly sensitive to ageism and other influences that can bring older adults into this place. It is causing me to be acutely aware that each day is a gift… and I PRAY I live to see those later years.
In this, I heard Father say: "Make the most of EVERY MOMENT wherever you are. Understand that there is still great work and tremendous exploits to encounter." Amen.
We all know the story of Abraham, Sarah, Moses, etc. So we don't need to recount those again although they are extremely relevant to this conversation as it relates to God's promises.
I want those who are reading this message to know, that this is not the time to loose hope.
It's not the time to look at the size of the vision He has given you (or will give) and say, "I don't have time to complete it."
It's not the time to look at the requirements of the vision (whether skill, technology, time, etc.) and be overwhelmed.
Rather, it is the time to TRUST HIM with what is in your hand. It is time to explore the beauty of the scribal assignment. It is time to know that all that you need in between to fulfill it will find its place.
We only lose when we don't try.
Father said, "There are advantages to your maturity in the hour that we are in as a community. The Lord wants you to see THE NEED for what you have in your hand.
Your lives in Christ CARRY wisdom, revelation knowledge, understanding, experience, practical application, etc. that is SORELY NEEDED in the times in which we live. EMBRACE YOUR SCRIBAL TREASURE HOUSE…as this is who you are (His scribe) in this time, and what you have to offer is the treasure inside you."
Your scribal release is one of the most critical catalysts of our day whether it seems that way to you at this time or not. Pick up your PEN and write. Set your phones to record and speak.
Let your needs be known in the environments and among the people who are drawing near to you. Expect opportunities for collaboration where needed.
But most of all, put an end to the proverb that YOU ARE TOO OLD! Never pick up those words again. They are lies. Rather, expect this to be the most fruitful season of your life with the Lord… as you pour the wisdom out. Amen.
Listen, there are promises God has given to those who have matured in age. So many people worship their youth, and scorn their maturity. But not you!
Father teaches us that it is a BLESSING to age in righteousness, grace and wisdom. The Scriptures contain many promises associated with moving into and standing firm in eldership.
I believe these promises are being revived in you even now. They fit within your scribal assignment and purpose. Be encouraged as I list a few below.
Job 32:7, I thought, ‘Those who are older should speak, for wisdom comes with age.’I thought, ‘Those who are older should speak, for wisdom comes with age.’
Ruth 4:15, He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age.
Job 12:12, Wisdom BELONGS to the aged, and UNDERSTANDING to the old.
Psalm 92:12-14, But the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon. For they are transplanted to the LORD’s own house. They flourish in the courts of our God. Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green. They will declare, “The LORD is just! He is my rock! There is no evil in him!
Proverbs 20:29, The glory of the young is their strength; the gray hair of experience is the SPLENDOR of the old.
Psalm 71:18-19, Now that I am old and my hair is gray, don’t leave me, God. I must tell the next generation about your power and greatness. God, your goodness reaches far above the skies. You have done wonderful things. God, there is no one like you.
- THIS IS YOUR PRODUCING TIME.
- THIS IS YOUR TIME OF GREAT VITALITY.
- THIS IS YOUR TIME OF IMPARTING WISDOM INTO THE YOUNG – WHETHER THEY LISTEN NOW OR LATER. (BUT THERE ARE THOSE WHO WILL LISTEN NOW.)
- THIS IS YOUR TIME OF HAVING UNDERSTANDING.
- THIS IS YOUR TIME OF OWNING YOUR UNDERSTANDING.
I stand in prayer and agreement today for these promises…. for your encouragement, and strength to pick up the scribal assignment the Lord has placed in you.
I stand against the weariness, heavniness, the disappointments and frustrations that seem to cloud your now and that have hindered and discouraged. May a fresh wind blow over you today, and the oil of Holy Spirit overtake you.
I pray for the hunger and thirst to record, write, produce and surge with fresh desire and strategy in the scribal realm. I pray for partnerships, Holy Spirit guided assistance where needed and resources to bring the vision to pass.
IT.
IS.
NOT.
TOO.
LATE in Jesus name.
