There are distinctive differences between Old & New Testament prophets.
Identifying these differences help believers uncover Christ’s heart for prophecy, the prophet and the prophetic in the 21st Century congregation.
This document is the foundation for teachings on the prophetic and the office of the prophet inside The Scribal Conservatory Arts & Worship Center & The School of the Scribe. In fact, it is pulled from the course, “Navigating The Calling of a Writing Prophet.” Also, to listen to some of our teachings on the prophetic, subscribe to our channel on Youtube.
Some guidelines:
- Note that this chart is based on seeing the office of the prophet through the legacy of Jesus Christ only. Taking the time to study from this perspective opens up new dimensions concerning the office of the prophet.
- This chart points out the strengths of the New Covenant prophet but is in NO WAY intended to diminish the prophets of the Old Covenant. This is not a competition or a debate but a healthy CONTRAST.
- The prophet’s functions in the Old Testament can still be seen today. HOWEVER, this chart is focused on helping us see what JESUS SHIFTED AND MADE NEW.
- This chart does not highlight what the prophets of the Old Covenant & New Covenant have in common. Another chart is coming.
- For those who are a part of The Scribal Conservatory and have taken courses in The School of the Scribe, you have context for what is listed here and the heart for the Lord behind it.
