Knowing Your Worth As A Scribe

Posted on 03/11/202203/11/2022 by Theresa Harvard Johnson

I have learned that knowing your worth IN BUSINESS AND MINISTRY often lines up with how YOU see yourself.

When I saw myself as less-than other people, unworthy and unqualified, it was easy not to value the things that the Lord placed in my hand for wealth and prosperity.

You might find yourself:
• Failing to launch
• Failing to thrive
• Failing to price items correctly
• Failing to confront
• Failing to identify and embrace new opportunity
• Failing to receive guidance
• Failing to find success
• Failing to recognize GOOD advice, help and insight when it comes

Poverty Has Many Forms

Poverty has many forms. It is not just this dimension of financial lack.

In fact, a person who lacks money might be in a state of poverty, but could very well have a prosperous mentality. They may be in a situation not of their own making and filled with aspiration, faith, wisdom and necessary effort to change their outward condition.

It is important for us to see that deep rooted depravity, as I am discussing here, can be tied to our identity. As such, it can prevent us from fully thriving because the thought processes and vision surrounding it are deeply embedded in our inner being.

So much so that the world shaped around it has no room for success.

Until we heal the perspective we have of self in critical areas, there will always be limitations on how far we can go toward prosperity in our businesses… and in ministry. There will always be self-sabotage lingering in our midst.

In addition, our perspective on prosperity in business or ministry will be skewed.

Time To Think Differently

For me, the call of ministry consumes me. I am constantly at the mercy of the Lord as it pertains to the calling to serve Him and His people within my vocation.

As a result, I have learned NOT to look at my reasonable service as a point of income. Instead, the Lord instructed me to make sure to have multiple streams of income.

This, I believe, is where many believers should begin thinking differently. Why? When we are called to ministry, we answer the call to serve not be served.

Without perfect clarity concerning this part, ministry frustration can set in at crazy levels. At that point, “ministers” might abuse those around them or make their expectations unreasonable when those they lead lack the means or even refuse to sustain them with their giving.

This frustration, in turn, begins to taint and poison the minister and the congregation.

We can call it a poverty spirit or whatever, but casting out a “mind set or perception” for most people seems to lay such a false foundation upon the issue.

It causes people scapegoat their inner battle to a stronghold verses engaging in the inner work work that launches, facilitates… and ultimately gives birth to lasting change.

Brilliance Should Not Be Wasted

It is SO DIFFICULT watching brilliance go to waste in the minds of God’s people.

I see so much “bashing and shaming” in the body when it comes to poverty.

But the truth is: “People need deeper healing in their inner man. There is a need to put in the inward WORK according to the plan Christ set to change the rot in thinking.”

The mind (that thought life, that place of reasoning and common sense) is the first frontier.

It must be conformed to our identity in Christ.

It must be nurtured, built up in our Holy Faith.

It must be carried in our belief systems.

It must be entrusted to Holy Spirit in us.

We must use everything we have, fueled by Holy Spirit, to move forward and not give up!

It is difficult coming through a poverty mindset in WHATEVER area of our lives where lack exists. Again, it is not ONLY about stewarding our finances, but our whole being must rise to the occasion.

If we understand this when it comes to weight loss and wellness, how much more does those same principles apply in every area where choice exists.

Healing Has Come

God has healed us.

Our role is to receive the healing revealed and boldly walk in it.

For some of us, it is WAY PAST TIME to move forward.

There comes a point when another class, mentor or guru is not be the answer. Instead, take what has been received and RUN… until the work unfolds and the mind of prosperity and abundance is revealed.

The Lord has not come to SHAME US into action on this issue, but to move us into action for our measure!
