I thank God for the sound leadership I have had in my life concerning my ministry. While I am not one-dimensional, I have clear areas of expertise in my life “in God” and all flow from a particular well.
I can confidently say I am not all over the place or without a straight line guiding me. Guess what? Maturity looks like that for ALL OF US. There is not one patriarch or matriarch in the scriptures who was used mightily that was without a clear path in the mature stages of their ministry.
Not one.
In the journey of personal and professional development, the wisdom of “staying in your lane” serves as a guiding principle for many successful individuals and leaders. For sons of God seeking purpose and aligning with destiny, it’s critical.
Conversely, straying from this path can lead to several detrimental outcomes. This post explores the consequences of not adhering to this focused approach, emphasizing the importance of maintaining discipline and clarity in one’s pursuits.
Listen, we live in a culture of WEIGHING IN ON EVERYTHING PUBLICLY. The truth is, while we all have an opinion… only the foolish lend their mouth to everything. Seriously. We should care about what we say and how we posture ourselves, AND TO WHOM WE SPEAK and before whom we speak.
We live in AN ARCHIVAL WORLD of the spirit and the natural. We are judged in both realms by our words. The natural realm, right now, is showing us how things said (in words and deeds) a year ago affects the now of many people. They cannot take the foolish things back.
As rising leaders, I want the young people I influence to consider these things BEFORE THE LORD, not before people. I am listing three today, but will share more next week in part II.
In the Kingdom, we have expertise AND NO NEED TO BE A JACK OF ALL TRADES and a master of nothing! Leave that to the wind, not your life in the Lord.
BEING ALL OVER THE PLACE, UNFOCUSED AND EVERYWHERE:
1. POLLUTES YOUR EXPERTISE AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF IT.
When individuals try to master multiple domains simultaneously, rather than concentrating on a specific area, they risk becoming a “jack of all trades, master of none.” Spreading oneself too thin dilutes the expertise that could have been developed by dedicating more focused efforts on one area. This lack of depth in any single field can hinder one’s ability to stand out and be recognized as an authority, ultimately impacting career progression and personal satisfaction.
2. CAUSES TREMENDOUS INWARD AND OFTEN OUTWARD CONFUSION.
Straying from a focused path often leads to confusion and a lack of clear direction. Without a clear lane, it can be challenging to set coherent goals and align efforts towards achieving them. IT CAN PRODUCE FALSE STARTS AND NO FINISHES. LOTS OF PEOPLE IN THE BODY ARE IN THIS CYCLE.
This confusion can permeate through an individual, team or an entire organization, leading to misaligned objectives and strategies, and ultimately, suboptimal outcomes. You can often visibly see and hear THE CRAZY.
3. ERODES PERSONAL IDENTITY.
This is one of my greatest concerns and what I see most in ministry. For individuals and often organizations alike, a strong identity is crucial to being seen, heard and positioned in healthy platforms. It MAKES THE SOUND OF GOD IN YOU distinctive from the world, the crowds.
Not staying in one’s lane can lead to a blurred personal identity, making it difficult for others to understand what one stands for or offers. It distorts the sound, redirects the frequency.

A good mentor, one who really cares for you will seek to lead you toward wisdom not the work of fools. What you SAY AND DO AND PRESENT AS SONS OF GOD stand as WORDS BEFORE HIM. That means your social media presence.
Set yourself up to succeed, not fail. We are one with God, not the systems of this world. Be holy, for Jesus is holy (in your inner being).
