Sometimes I know you desire to stand from the rooftops and give your testimony concerning how our Father placed this love for scribal ministry on the inside of you. Instead of standing quietly in the shadows, you want to expose the obstacles that have come your way to defer you faith by saying, “You can’t do this. This world doesn’t need another play, book, poem or song. After all; you’re just not that special.” I know you want to share with the world how you overcame them.

For a long time, I was my own obstacle – my greatest opponent and sabotaging agent. Then, when I finally thought I’d overcome that place the obstacles of discouragement intensified, seeking to fortify the lies rolling around in my head. I wrote about this in my book, The Scribal Anointing: Scribes Instructed in the Kingdom of Heaven, but Father is pressing me to share it again.

When we hear the word “scribe” it is immediately associated with the gift of writing. The truth of the matter is that this is a “modern day” interpretation of what the ministry of the scribe is and not an accurate depiction of who we are as scribes, as told through the legacy of scripture.

In the ministry entrusted to me, I teach about the fullness of the ministry of the scribe historically and prophetically – from the Old Covenant to the 21st Century worldview of the congregation. This is why we use the terminology, The Scribal Anointing. You see, God called us SCRIBES, not simply writers. The term “writer” indicates a single function associated with the scribe or it signifies ONLY the function of writing.

Go ahead! Type this question into any search engine: “Can a woman be an apostle?” Before your finger lifts from the right-click-button-of-your-mouse, the web page before you will be filled with articles, bible studies, forums and sermons exceeding 20 pages deep that not only discuss this issue; but enter into the age-old debate concerning whether women should be in leadership among the congregation.

The good news is that statistics show that attitudes toward women in ministry are changing at a steady pace. Barna Group reports that between 1999 and 2009, the number of female pastors in Protestant churches doubled. (Review the findings here.) For clarity, the term “Protestant” simply refers to any denomination of the Christian faith that is separated from the Roman Catholic Church – particularly as it relates to the universal authority of the Pope. The report also states that:

Over the past decade, prophetic dance has reached amazing heights in the midst of worship and the arts in some congregations. Yet, statistics from Faith Communities Today and other church data finding agencies report that interactive or contemporary worship – especially through drama and dance – make up less than one percent of main stream worship services across the nation. This isn’t that hard to believe when you consider that the largest religious groups in the United States remain among the oldest, and longest standing Christian organizations in the country – many of whom still retain some very conservative positions on expressive liturgy.
