We Are His Beautiful Footstool

This phrase echoed in my hearing this morning, “Beloved, You are my beautiful footstool!”

Can you imagine a footstool being beautiful? I can. This morning as I celebrated the gift of 2016, I remembered a time when I was a little girl going with my mama to clean houses. I had to be about five or six years old.

I remember standing at the edge of this giant bed in one of the homes unable to hop up. At its base was this beautiful, elaborately designed “tiny table” – I thought – that I could use to climb up to get into this huge bed that was unlike anything I had ever seen. This “tiny table” was made of wooden legs and a cushioned top.

Mama said, “Baby, that’s a footstool not a short table.” For me it could very well have been both. This was an awesome memory to launch the first day of the New Year. Intrigued, I decided to study “footstools” this morning and the following passage of scripture jumped out at me:

Acts 7:49 NIV, “However, the Most High does not live in houses made by men. As the prophet says:Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What kind (manner) of house will you build for me? says the Lord. Or where will my resting place be?”

BOOK REVIEW: Ungodly Soul Ties, Break Free to Break Through

It has been raining relentlessly in Georgia for the past two weeks. I must admit that the scribe in me loves this… as it seems to trigger a flood of desire to sit in my prayer room watching the rain and moving grey skies from my bay window as Holy Spirit urges me to relax, meditate, pray and write.

As I did, my heart fell on several Godly sisters in my life.

Compassion for sisterhood hit me deeply. So, I began thanking God for them with each stroke of my pen, writing words of encouragement and hope for them in my journal, thanking him for divine connections, and the blessing of their friendship.

BOOK REVIEW: Dear Woman, Get Well Letters of Hope

Chavos Buycks, Author

In her debut devotional memoir, Dear Woman: Get Well Letters of Hope, authorChavos Buckys courageously confronts ten years of shame and torment resulting from chronic illness; and turns it into a collective, poignant message of endurance, hope, comfort and healing.

Buckys was diagnosed with Stage IV endometriosis, an often severely painful gynecological disorder “in which tissue that normally lines the inside of the uterus — the endometrium — grows outside the uterus (endometrial implant).”[1] While the condition is treatable, it can result in infertility and cancer.[2] During the “endo-storms” – as she termed them – she found herself desperate for encouragement and comfort in the form of a book to speak to her specific crisis. Unable to find what she needed, she decided to write her own memoir as a series of earnest letters to women experiencing similar crises.

BOOK REVIEW: Apostolic Guidelines to Release the Prophetic

As ministry leaders, we can find ourselves operating in prophetic ministry with limited training, instruction, guidance and insight. It is not uncommon to minister in these arenas with people whose understanding and insight is pretty much at the same level as yours. After all, many prophetic people travel in circles… and often don’t recognize when their “circle” stops growing in progressive revelation. Some may even live in the same community; have probably taken similar classes on the prophetic and have read some of the most popular books available today which, more or less, repeat information.

If you are reading this book review, you are probably seeking MORE understanding concerning the prophetic as well.

While searching the web on this topic one day, I stumbled across a book entitled, “Apostolic Guidelines to Release the Prophetic” by Dr. Kluane Spake. I ordered it immediately, and read it cover-to-cover within days of its arrival. That was over six months ago and it has significantly impacted my life. I have since reread it; but this time, I combed through the pages highlighting key areas, taking extensive notes and studying out certain aspects deeper in the scriptures. (I have a growing notebook dedicated to what I have learned and received from my study.)
