What I learned from Wonder Woman (2)

Wonder Woman reminds me of the beauty of childhood innocence if you grew up in the 70s. She wore a pretty cool headband, wielded a lasso of truth, wore a sword on her back, commanded an invisible jet and wore bracelets that could release untold power!
She was the superhero that offered escape from my darkened childhood. I would jump up and down as I waited for my 15-year-old brother to use the pliers to turn the broken knob on our black and white analog television set – just so I could catch the latest episodes from her groundbreaking show.
In between the fights at home and my mother’s severe, incapacitating schizophrenia, I became Wonder Woman’s greatest fan.
I would don my underoos (which were all the rage in 1977), grab my toilet paper roll bracelets (we would slit the sides so they would fit), put the rubber band from the collard greens around my head, grab my jump rope lasso… and head to the “circle” in the center of the housing project where all the little kids would gather to play in the summer time.
Why Prophetic Writers Need To Write At The Unction of Holy Spirit As Often As Possible (2)

When the mind gets in the way of the moving of the Spirit, the prophetic writer looses a lot of “supernatural traction” – meaning the ability to pull from and dig into the spirit with EASE. Outside of this “invitation to enter in”… accessing information and revelation is more random and it might come in trickles. It may also seem tougher or more difficult to access the atmosphere again. (Some people see this as warfare, but many times we have just missed the perfect timing of God and the cloud has lifted.) To maximize the moment, an immediate… focused response is necessary. The Lord will take care of the rest if we jump in.
Four Critical Hindrances To Scribal Advancement (2)

I believe there are four critical things that hinder the advancement of SERIOUS prophetic writers and scribes. (This list is for those scribes who have strong relationships with the Lord like prayer, studying the word, etc. but face blocks in their lives as prophetic writers and/or prophetic scribes). I believe these hindrances include:
1. A LACK OF CONSISTENCY. Specifically, I am speaking of being consistent with the directives God has released to produce scribal projects, activities, etc. As a result, no momentum is built in the spirit realm to propel that scribe or his or her project forward. Instead, there is a constant start/stop… which resets their efforts and pull them back into stages of infancy and stagnation. Faithfulness to these tasks WILL release a number of hindrances.
2. FAILURE TO PRACTICE. The scribal gift (whatever it may be) should be exercised as part of ones regular spiritual discipline. This does not mean you have to do something every day, but there should be consistent scribal activity in the life of a called scribe. This includes scribal activities that Holy Spirit urges you to do as well as those things you DESIRE to do. Both are good. Whether it is journaling, taking notes, attending an open mic poetry event, journaling, etc. Gifts must be activated and stirred as often as possible. We should desire to be more than a “scribe” at heart, but in actuality. For example, if you have a blog… then that blog should not go three months without a new post if Holy Spirit has indeed directed you to write one. Remember, there is ALWAYS time to do what God has commanded. Choose to practice consistently and watch yourself grow leaps and bounds in that area!
Guess What? Not All Scribes Are Writers (2)

One of the greatest pleasures of teaching The Scribal Anointing, the ministry of the scribal office, is providing the people of God with tools to “identify, name and walk out” their scribal calling. It’s like finding that one puzzle piece that often puts everything we have been doing throughout our lives in clarity and focus.
What we often remember most about the scribes of the Bible – outside of the negative behavior rehearsed among the congregation – is that their contributions to our faith-based culture ensured that we have the work of God and the life of Christ in a tangible, written record. What we don’t often realize, however, is that the scribes in charge of that task were introduced to us first as copyists and recorders.
