Book Review: The Greatest Well Digger in the World by Tokunbo Emmanuel

Author Tokunbo Emmanuel

The rich tradition of family and beautiful African storytelling is displayed vividly in Tokunbo Emmanuel’s latest release, The Greatest Well Digger in the World: He Knows the Path to Highest Joy. For a little over an hour, I lost time and willingly immersed myself in the life of the main character, a young girl named Marnina. Through the prophetic eyes of the author, I journeyed through her childhood before she became the woman whom Christ met at “The Well” and set free from a life of sin.

What makes this parable unique is that the author steps into his Holy imagination as if carried by the Spirit to give readers the back story – painting a very realistic picture that shows how a young girl full of life and enormous dreams could find herself living a life riddled in shame.

Marnina’s script enters and exits scenes of the country side and lifestyle of the villagers of Sychar and flows with life as we meet her close knit family; learn about how women suppressed their dreams because of obedience to tradition; and how her natural father, who received a word from God concerning her destiny, fueled her hopes and dreams – even through the tremendous tragedy and pain she encountered throughout life.

BOOK REVIEW: All In Your Names, Acrostic Meditations for the Seeking Soul

The first time I heard Penny MacPherson sing, my soul surrendered under the power of God as every Hebraic expression made its way from her spirit into my ear. That was nearly six years ago. Now, I have experienced a similar overflow as I finished reading her debut poetry collection, “All In Your Names: Acrostic Meditations for the Seeking Soul.”

McPherson, a Messianic worshipper and Hebraic roots enthusiast, spent years meditating on the power of God’s names. Her intimate acquaintance with him fueled an overflow of acrostics that not only unveil the character of God but also his majesty, dominion and relentless love for each one of us.

God Speaks by Teresa Robbins

Book Review by Theresa Harvard Johnson

For the prophetic scribe writing is not a process. It is an act of obedience. It is the acknowledgement that God speaks into the innermost recesses of the heart, releasing his way and his will. Prophetic writing is the result of this speaking and the urgency roaring and raging within the scribe that says “go and tell.”

Jeremiah described it this way: “But if I say, I won’t think about him, I won’t speak in his name any more,” then it seems as though a fire is burning in my heart, imprisoned in my bones; I wear myself out trying to hold it in, but I just can’t do it.”[1]

Come Forth by Andrea M Renfroe

Reading collections of poetry can be mundane and a bit lethargic. Lovers of the genre will tell you quickly that it can often be difficult connecting with a poem or following a collection logically – especially those written by believers. Why? Because many creative scribes have not learned to follow Holy Spirit’s leading into weaving poetry into testimonies of deliverance, declarations of His power or instructions that promote transformation. This poetic collection is mature, firm for the harvest.

You see, every seasoned prophetic poet is a storyteller. And every seasoned storyteller has a burden to convey the heart of God.

Creativity According To The Kingdom by Matt Tommey

My soul has longed to read a book that could passionately capture my heart concerning the depth and power of God’s creativity, and impart the type of understanding into the ears of others that truly enabled them to appreciate and grasp the weight, impact and significance of Holy Spirit-inspired artistic expression. My friend Matt Tommey was able to do this in his book, “Creativity According to the Kingdom: Connecting with Heaven to Create with God & Release Transformation.”

I was created to be a poet, God’s oracle for healing and restoration. And as I am inspired, I grab hold of my oil pastels and worship into the morning. Several key passages from Tommey’s book affirmed that every ounce of creativity in me, and all artisans, is purposed to give and carry God’s light to others – bearing witness to His immeasurable, all-consuming, transforming power.
